Twelve wells with a hinged lid, for the parts that are off the sprue and not yet on the model. That interval is where small parts are lost, and a lost part in a kit is usually a kit that never gets finished.
The wells are ribbed at the base rather than smooth. A smooth well makes a flat part almost impossible to pick up with a tweezer; the ribs hold it a fraction off the floor so a point can get under it.
The lid is the reason to buy a tray rather than use a saucer. A tray that closes can be moved, stacked and put away with a part-built kit still in it, which is what actually happens when a model takes three months.

- Fits
- Twelve wells, each 38 x 30 x 18 mm deep. Trays stack two deep with the lids closed. Lid is clear enough to identify contents without opening.
- Service life
- Indefinite in normal use. The wear point is the living hinge, which is good for several thousand cycles; the check is whitening along the hinge line. Whitening means the hinge is work-hardening and will crack, usually within a few dozen more openings.
- Composition
- Polypropylene body and lid with an integral living hinge and two sprung catches. Well floors ribbed at 1.5 mm pitch.

Fitting & care
- Open and close the lid fully rather than part way. A hinge worked through a partial arc fatigues in one spot.
- Do not overfill a well past the rim, or the lid will not close and the catches take the strain.
- Wash in cool water only. Hot water distorts the lid and it will not sit square again.
Cautions
- Not airtight or liquid tight. It is a parts tray and will leak if anything is poured into it.
- Not for solvent storage of any kind.
- Not for parts that are still wet with cement or finish - they will stick to the ribbed floor.
